Founded in 1967, the Lake Tahoe Humane Society has provided a variety of animal welfare programs including:
- Pet-assisted literacy programs
- Pet-assisted visitation at the Barton Hospital skilled nursing facility
- Charitable pet-food pantry
- Disaster Animal Response Team (DART)
- Spay-neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)
We are funded 100% from private donations and grants, and operated soley by volunteers. There are no paid positions.
In May 2018, we offically launched the “Paws for the Cause” campaign via the Network for Good giving site. The purpose is to help build the organization’s financial base in order to to restore services back to the Tahoe community. Currently we are not in a position to offer programs geared to assist animals.
Your contributions whether through your time, recommendations, partnerships, and/or monetary contributions, are essential to uniting us as a bonded community to create a safer future for the animals of Lake Tahoe.
We can’t thank you enough. With incredible gratitude.
